SUMMER CAMP

2017

It’s time for Trinity Summer Camp registration. In this packet you will find information about the classes offered this summer for children entering K4 through Eighth Grade. There are academic and enrichment classes with great instructors. Our academic classes are designed to review particular areas of core curriculum and prepare students for the upcoming year. Enrichment classes provide a variety of topics and activities for your child’s enjoyment.

Students may sign up for any combination of academic or enrichment courses, as long as they are part of the appropriate grade levels. Students may sign up for one, two, three, or all four weeks. They may register for one or two classes each week.

Classes are open on a first come first serve basis. Class sizes are limited, so please register early. We will have early enrollment for Trinity students from now until April 21st. After that date, the program will be open to the general public for registration.

Daily Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Session 1
10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Snack & Recess
10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Session 2
Please Note: Students are responsible for bringing his/her
own snacks each day.
 

Prices: The cost per class is $75.00 for one week.

 
Dress Code: Casual dress:
Shorts need to be of appropriate length.
No tank tops or spaghetti strap shirts.
No inappropriate logos on clothing allowed.
 
Enrollment: Register by April 21st for Trinity early enrollment. Enrollment will be opened to the general public after April 21st. Students can enroll in a class until the class starts or is filled.  Turn into either school office with check or cash payment.
 
Grades listed are the grade the children will be entering in the fall.

Week 1 Session 1 8:30-10:00 (June 5-8)

BUGS AND INSECTS INVESTIGATIONS THRU BOOKS, GAMES, AND VIDEOS---

Instructor: P. Odem Grades K4-K5

This class is for incoming K4-K5 students only. Each week we will be discovering new aspects about bugs and insects. There will be fun activities to learn and explore. (Activities change each week.)

WHO KNEW SCIENCE COULD BE SO MUCH FUN???---

Instructor: M. Callahan Grades 1-3

Students will have a great time exploring science in many hands-on ways. We will be doing a lot of hands-on experiments and creating a lot of great things for them to bring home and share!

Nature Explorers---Instructor: Skip Mozisek Grades 3-8

Learning about the wonders of nature through hands-on-activities like gardening, identifying insects, and animal research. Kids will look differently at the marvelous world around them.

ROCK WALL CLIMBING---

Instructor: K. Schulte Grades 2-4

Learn the basics of rock wall climbing by traversing the wall, using the auto belay, and learning to climb the wall with one of the instructors on belay.

**Safety considerations: Students will experience soreness/redness in their fingers as the fingers are used extensively during rock wall climbing. Students should wear long pants and good fitting athletic shoes. Students may experience some scrapes on arms and legs if they happen to slip while traversing or climbing.

Week 1 Session 2 10:30-12:00 (June 5-8)

EXPLORING THE OCEAN WITH BOOKS, GAMES, SCIENCE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES--- Instructor: P. Odem Grades K4-K5

This class is for incoming K4-and K5 students only. We will be discovering new aspects about ocean animals with fun activities while learning and exploring. It is sure to put a smile on your child’s face and start building a love for science.

YOUNG READERS CLUB---Instructor: J. Biles Grades 1-4

Each day campers will explore literature from different authors, develop reading and writing skills, and creatively express themselves through the stories they read. Each day will include hand-on-learning such as crafts, science activities, or snacks to accompany the literature.

ALL ABOUT TEXAS---Instructor: Skip Mozisek Grades 3-8

If you love the great state of Texas as much as we do, you will love this class! We will look at what makes Texas unique: the history, the battles, native animals, the food, the geography and cities.

EXPLORING THEIR FIVE SENSES THRU BOOKS, GAMES, AND VIDEOS

Instructor: P. Odem Grades K4-K5

This class is for incoming K4-K5 students only. This week we will be discovering the five senses. There will be fun activities to learn and explore. (Activities change each week.)

COOL SCIENCE---Instructor: K. Pogue Grades 4-8

Students will utilize the science lab to have a wonderful time learning many cool things about science. We will be doing tons of hands-on experiments!

YOUNG READERS CLUB---Instructor: J. Biles Grades 1-4

Each day campers will explore literature from different authors, develop reading and writing skills, and creatively express themselves through the stories they read. Each day will include hand-on-learning such as crafts, science activities, or snacks to accompany the literature.

CHEERLEADING---Instructor: C. Anderson/S. Anderson Grades K5-2

Come energized to learn cheers, chants, jumps, and small stunts! There will also be a fun craft each day!!

HEALTHY COOKING ---Instructor: C. Fetters/M. Fetters GRADES 2-8

Come learn all about healthy cooking and why it’s important for your body! We will cook yummy snacks and meals with the opportunity to eat them as well. Each day we will keep a log in a notebook keep to track of our healthy eating!!

Week 2 Session 2 10:30-12:00 (June 12-15)

EXPLORING ANIMALS THRU SCIENCE, VIDEOS, AND CRAFTS---

ADVANCED ROCKWALL CLIMBING---Instructor: K. Schulte

Grades 5-8

Students will learn how to tie a double figure 8 knot, perform safety checks and how to manually belay each other under strict instructor guidance. They will also be bouldering on the wall.

Nature Explorers---Instructor: Skip Mozisek Grades 1-5

ICKY, GOOEY SCIENCE---Instructor: K. Pogue Grades 1-3

Students will have a great time exploring science in many hands-on ways. We will be doing a lot of hands-on experiments, nature exploring, and creating a lot of great things for them to bring home and share!

CREATIVE JOURNALING---Instructor: J. Biles Grades 3-5

Students will create a personal interactive journal in which they will learn creative ways to express their feelings and record experiences. Journal writing builds confidence in writing, allows a safe place to try new ideas, and express themselves. This journal will be a collection of ideas for future writings.

BROADWAY BOUND---Instructor: C. Fetters/M. Fetters

Grades: 3-8

Do you have what it takes to be a star? This fun and entertaining class will take you from a wannabe to a superstar! Campers will learn about different types of acting, stage references, write bits of scripts, try improv, acting games, and get to learn a variety of parts of plays and musicals.

LANDFORMS…NOT JUST FOR TOPOGRAPHERS ANYMORE—

Instructor: M. Callahan Grades 1-3

Each day the students will create various landforms using a “hands on” approach. They will discover how each landform has an opposite side of itself. They will create a book and be able to name and describe each form they made.

ICKY, GOOEY SCIENCE--- Instructor: K. Pogue Grades 4-6

Students will have a great time exploring science in many hands-on ways. We will be doing a lot of hands-on experiments, nature exploring, and creating a lot of great things for them to bring home and share!

This class is for incoming K4-and K5 students only. We provide fun experiences exploring science and math using their senses. It is sure to put a smile on your child’s face and start building a love for science and math.

JR. ART CAMP---Instructor---J. Carson Grades 3-8

Hands on art class where students will learn to work with a variety of mediums and styles. If you are an artist, don’t miss out!

INVENTORS WORKSHOP---Instructor: Skip Mozisek Grades 1-5

Each day campers are given a specific task to accomplish. They will be given a variety of supplies and tools to use to create their inventions, and finish with a 30 second commercial to showcase each of their work.

SCRAPBOOKING 101---Instructor: E. Leita Grades 2-8

Don’t miss out on this 1st time class! Make your memories unforgettable as you design your own personal scrapbook. Students will bring their favorite photos to create unique lasting memories to display. They will use a variety of papers, Washi tape, stencils, die-cuts and stickers.

Week 4 Session 1 8:30-10:00 (June 26-29)

READERS THEATER---Instructor: S. Mozisek Grades 3-8

Readers read from a ‘script’. Reading parts are divided among the readers. No memorization, costumes, blocking, or special lighting is needed. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures. Students will enjoy expressing their individuality while gaining fluency in reading orally and speaking publicly.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP---Instructor: K. Schulte Grades 4-8

If you love volleyball and want to improve your knowledge and skill for the game, this camp class is for you! Focus will be on individual skill development. Basic techniques will be taught and drilled.

Week 4 Session 2 10:30-12:00 (June 26-29)

Cheer, and dance, and crafts, oh my! What fun it will be to learn fun dances, cheers, and create some cool crafts!! It will be a week full of spirit and fun!
